Gary Hixon & Lincoln Center
presented the fourteenth ArtWear event at the Lincoln Center on September 5 - 12, 2008
Our goal is to present innovative and wearable works of the highest quality and provide a forum to share our enthusiasm for an exploration into wearable art techniques and materials.
This year’s ArtWear Fashion Week was a great success! We had an exciting week with opportunities for many of you to see the fabulous wearable art through the Preview Event Fashion Show, week long Sales Gallery; and take advantage of wonderful demonstrations, trunk shows, and the third annual KnitWear Event. Thank you to all who participated and donated their time towards these events. We hope to see you at the next ArtWear Fashion Week in 2010.
Thank you to our sponsors Gary Hixon and Interweave Press
SALES GALLERY
ArtWear Fashion Week highlighted the work of over 50 artists from across the nation through the weeklong Sales Gallery and the Preview Event Fashion Show. Money from garment sales will benefit the Lincoln Center Visual Arts program,, allowing us to provide outreach to the community, Colorado State University, Poudre School District & other area schools. It also allows the Visual Art Department to purchase needed equipment and provide support for special events and continue to provide the community with quality visual arts exhibitions.
KNITWEAR
The third annual KnitWear was held this year during ArtWear Fashion Week. It provided free demonstrations, the opportunity to get to know local vendors and purchase supplies, learn new techniques and participate in knitting roundtables.
DEMONSTRATIONS
Demonstrations throughout the week shared ideas and taught new techniques including knitting kimonos, free motion sewing, etc. A special thanks to our instructors: Pat Algers, Anne Bossert, Gwen Hatchette, Sara Rockinger and Vicki Square.
TRUNK SHOW and OUTREACH PROGRAMS
Visiting artists Mary Mortensen and Gini Corrick joined us with a trunk show on Saturday. We also offered outreach programs to community groups in the evening.
