A LITTLE LIGHT MUSIC … Welcome the arrival of spring with the 7th annual Afternoon Tea with a Diva gala Sunday, April 17. This lighthearted event features a full British afternoon tea, the popular cake auction, and a live performance by mezzo-soprano Melissa Parks accompanied by pianist Jordan Ortman.

Ms. Parks will display her performance evolution from a Grand Opera dramatic mezzo-soprano to a lively Gilbert & Sullivan mainstay … and share more than a few adventures along the way!

“From Wagner to Gilbert & Sullivan, my life in the world of opera has afforded me ample opportunities to express myself,” says Ms. Parks. “In today’s current climate, singers are challenged to step out of the opera fach* box and embrace the growing trend of expanding repertoire and audience demands. As a mezzo-soprano with a comedic side, this has proved to be a most wonderful time to exist in this art form. My musical offerings reflect my journey as a dramatic voice in a climate of ever-evolving tastes, budgets, and whims of this wild and wooly world we call opera.”

All proceeds will benefit the OFC general operating budget.
