Fill Up and Feel Good

The Lincoln Center proudly continues to take steps toward promoting a sustainable community and a sustainable future with new energy-efficient water fountains and bottle fillers.

We’ve recently updated our water fountains to include bottle fillers. Not only are these new units sensor-activated, which helps keep germs from spreading, but they are also helping us to save both water and electricity, and reduce solid waste in the form of plastic water bottles. Using the bottle fillers is quick and easy. Simply place your reusable bottle under the spout and the unit will fill it for you in a snap. We encourage you to ditch the one-time-use cups and opt to bring your own reusable water bottles when you visit.

While all cups at The Lincoln Center are compostable, replacing your disposable bottles and cups with a reusable water bottle is a small change that can make a big difference. Every year Americans purchase 50 million water bottles, averaging about 13 bottles per month for every person in America. And these plastic water bottles can take up to 1000 years to biodegrade. By using a reusable water bottle you could save on average 156 plastic bottles annually. Oceana estimates that a 10% increase in the usage of reusable water bottles could decrease aquatic plastic pollution by 22%. That means that 4.5 to 7.6 billion plastic bottles would be kept out of the oceans each year.

Whether you want the convenience of not having to wait in line for water at the bar, or you want to reduce the plastic burden on landfills, oceans, streams and other places where plastic waste ends up, we look forward to seeing you and your reusable water bottle at your next visit!
