Meet the Fraggles of Jim Henson’s Fraggle Rock

You might be asking yourself: What is Fraggle Rock? Enter Gobo, Red, Mokey, Wembley and Boober Fraggle – five unique and wondrous characters from the mind of acclaimed puppeteer Jim Henson – who will hit the stage at The Lincoln Center Nov. 14 in Jim Henson’s Fraggle Rock: Back to the Rock LIVE.

When the five Fraggles discover a legend about a long-lost Fraggle treasure called the Celebration Stone, they embark on an adventure to find it, resulting in an heartwarming, immersive musical experience that will have everyone from families to first-time theatregoers dancing in their seats. Now, it’s time to meet the Fraggles:

GOBO FRAGGLE
“Come on! Let’s go explore!” — Gobo
Gobo is our sweet (Always!) and fearless (Usually!) leader who lives to explore the seemingly endless caves and tunnels of Fraggle Rock with his best friends. Gobo is always up for an adventure and a song, and his optimism is infectious in the Rock, especially with his best friend and roommate, Wembley, with whom he’ll dive head-first into excitement about everything from holidays to hats. Gobo, perhaps, has a MINOR blind spot in his unwavering admiration for his Uncle Travelling Matt. But you can’t argue with the fact that Gobo’s brave work retrieving the postcards and artifacts Matt sends back via the hole to “Outer Space” in Doc’s workshop keeps new adventures and excitement constantly flowing into Fraggle Rock!

RED FRAGGLE
“Woohooo! Let’s race!” — Red
Red is a ball of endless Fraggle energy. She loves to dive, spin, run, swim and whoop her way through the day. If it’s action-packed and athletic, she’s up for it! Her enthusiasm keeps the fun at an 11, but she occasionally loses herself in competition and has to dial it back. Best friends and roommates with Mokey, Red is definitely the high-energy, bombastic counterbalance to Mokey’s more meditative and artistic approach to life. Her job is keeping the Fraggle pond clean, and she’s a champion diver, not to mention a zip-vine enthusiast and daring game inventor! Sometimes impatient — especially when it comes to Gobo’s uncle, Travelling Matt — and occasionally a bit more stubborn than she intends to be, Red is ultimately a strong, dependable friend and a tireless engine for fun in Fraggle Rock.

MOKEY FRAGGLE
“The vibes of the Rock are strong today, friends!” — Mokey
Breathe in … find your center … connect to the universe … and out. Nice work. Now you’re ready to hang out with Mokey! Mokey is a gentle, caring, curious soul, in tune with the natural world and always looking to make a connection — with the universe, a new creature in the Rock — and especially with her best friends. Mokey loves anything artistic, yoga, meditation and communicating with the vibes of the caves and tunnels. She’s an amazing friend and roommate to Red, and always good for providing an alternate view on things – sometimes literally standing on her head just to see someone else’s POV. She sometimes maybe relies TOO much on her intuition, which can get her in a jam, but she’s also undeniably tapped into something special. She’s loyal, awesome and filled with surprises.

WEMBLEY FRAGGLE
“Radishes are my favorite snack! No, strawberries… or maybe both?” — Wembley
Wembley is sweet… or is he fun? Maybe he’s excitable… or is he fired up to go on an adventure with Gobo? Maybe he’s just hungry? No need to wemble about it; he’s all of these things! Yes, he’s a wembler — he has trouble making up his mind about almost anything — but it’s usually just that he’s so enthusiastic and excited about all the fun things to do in Fraggle Rock that it’s hard for him to choose. His bestest friend in the entire universe is Gobo, and Wembley loves to join him on fun adventures. Sometimes, Wembley’s wembling means he doesn’t speak up for himself, but he’s working on that! In the meantime, he’s the most positive, fun, loyal, ridiculous friend you could ever hope to have. He also has two banana tree shirts. They may look alike, but he knows which one is his favorite…. at least he thinks he does?

BOOBER FRAGGLE
“I’d rather be doing laundry…” — Boober
If you’re curious about all the things that could possibly go wrong in Fraggle Rock, talk to Boober, because he has imagined all of them and then some. It’s not like he’s a pessimist; in his mind, he’s a realist! And besides, isn’t it better to be prepared for the worst rather than surprised by it? So, sure, Boober has a bit of a doomsday streak, but really, preparing for disaster helps him feel safe. That and a good soup! (He’s an incredible chef.) Boober is sensitive, caring, fastidious and always good for a wry comment. His job in Fraggle Rock — and greatest joy in the world — is doing laundry. Nothing eases his anxiety more than an afternoon with a bubbly, soapy washtub chock-full of socks to scrub. He knows a ton of tricks for getting any stain out and the best ways to fold a sheet, and he’s always happy to share his laundry secrets – if you have all day, ask him about his process!
