The Lincoln Center would like to recognize the contributions of our amazing volunteers this National Volunteer Month. Last season, our volunteer team gave more than 11,000 hours of their time to support 406 events in our performance venues and they have already given over 8,000 hours this season! The time they donate each season saves The Lincoln Center approximately $400,000—the equivalent of 11 full-time employees.
If you have been to an event in one of our theaters, you have encountered some of our volunteers, but you may not know all the roles they fill during our events. Our volunteers are the forward-facing staff that serve as greeters, ticket scanners, guides, program ushers, stage monitors, hearing device docents, and art gallery docents. They are also trained to lead evacuations and to assist in any emergencies that may arise to help keep our patrons safe. What they do at The Lincoln Center is vital and important work, and we quite literally could not do what we do without them.
What’s more important than their numbers and the job roles they fill is that these volunteers are truly incredible people who come from a wide range of backgrounds and professions. Some have worked with humanitarian organizations around the world. Some have led scientific research. Others have worked as business executives, doctors, nurses, law enforcement, teachers and professors. All of them have stories and unique experiences to share, so don’t be afraid to ask them when you meet them. We are truly fortunate to have these outstanding people on our team. They play a large part in making The Lincoln Center a welcoming and safe space for allour community members.
If you find yourself at The Lincoln Center this month, please take the time to speak to one of our volunteers and to thank them for helping us facilitate arts and cultural events for the greater Fort Collins community.
