The Commoner’s Quest

Choreographed and staged by Front Range Classical Ballet Academy Director Ixchel Levendosky and performed by FRCBA students of all ages and levels, The Commoner’s Quest brings to life an original story by Jayme Patrick, a former student at FRCBA. The ballet is set to the passionate music of Johannes Brahms.

Calypso is orphaned when her mother dies of tuberculosis.  In her sorrow and anguish, Calypso runs away to the forest where the plants and animals there become her loyal friends and guardians.  Jealous that village life has continued on in her absence, Calypso uses her magic gem, a gift from her mother, to steal the kingdom’s water. Adalira, Calypso’s childhood friend and a loyal subject of her kingdom, volunteers for the quest to restore water to the kingdom’s wells when they mysteriously run dry. A story of friendship, generosity and redemption, The Commoner’s Quest explores the importance of community and compassion towards those around us.
